An encounter with God is when there is a supernatural manifestation of God’s presence in your life. It is out of the ordinary, and it is often marked by some kind of physical sense of the presence of God. When it happens you will not need to be told that you have been touched by God. You will just know. Deep revelations of secrets hidden and breaking of curses will present themselves. And just like Saul who had an encounter with God on the road to Damascus, your thinking will change. That is what to expect from an encounter from God when you have a major encounter.
As an athlete or anyone working in the sports or entertainment industry, it is important to stay in touch with the Lord. There are many temptations that can lead one astray in an industry that is often guided by money, power, greed and lust. High contract offers and booty being thrown around has led many men and women astray. Then, add in easy access to drugs, gambling and alcohol and one has the perfect cocktail for sinning.
Sinning will lead one to make poor decisions and eventually lead one to career and soul suicide. But it is preventable. One can have an encounter with God, although smaller, every day. It happens as you include worship, conversation with God, prayer, Bible study, etc. into your daily activities. As Saul who was annihilating Christians, the same man became Paul, a disciple of Christ. A daily encounter with the Lord as you practice drills or watch game film helps one change. Daily encounters with God will nourish your soul and improve your performance and life.
