July 3, 1969 was the last night of the Stonewall Uprising (aka Stonewall Riots). On that day, the NY Mets defeated the St Louis Cardinals, 8-1. The Miracle Mets went on to win the World Series that year. Glenn Lawrence Burke would have been 17 years old at the time. Both events would have been significant for him as he would later be known as the first openly gay baseball player in Major League Baseball. Three years ago, Billy Bean wrote him a letter, and it is perfect to once again hear so we don’t revert back to the times of Stonewall Uprising.
