Are you in shape? I’m not referring to physical shape while that’s important as the Lord said our bodies are His temples.:
“And when He had made him upright and breathed into him of His spirit” (38:72) [Islam]
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own?~1 Corinthians 6:19 NRSVUE [Christianity]
V’asu li mikdash v’shachanti b’tokham, “Let them build me a sanctuary and I will dwell within their midst.~Shemot/Exodus 25:8 [Judiasm]
It houses the Holy Spirit while we are here on Earth. We wouldn’t, at least I hope, want to host the Holy Spirit in a dirty house.
In the above video, Brother Matt Forte talked about the difference between being in shape and being in football shape. We can apply that to our spiritual lives. Being in shape as a Christian can look like regular church attendance, tithing, and prayer. But then, you have to ask about being in football shape.
So are you in football shape? When was the last time you humbled yourself when you prayed? Like did you prostrate yourself? Do you regularly fast? Gone on a date with God? Are you praising and worshipping God daily or just on your church, mosque or temple’s Sabbath?
We have to be in “football shape?” When life gets to “lifing,” we need to trust God and being in “football shape” is the muscle we need to hold on when others would give up on God.
