F.I.G.

Following Immanuel Graciously = F.I.G.

To follow means to go or come after something or someone. In Hebrew, Immanuel means God with us. It appears three times in the Bible. Therefore the Lord himself will give you[a] a sign: The virgin[b] will conceive and give birth to a son, and[c] will call him Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14).* It is a reference to Jesus, and to be gracious means to be kind, compassionate, or generous.

Wednesday, a “Christian” man was killed by the very hate he spew. Somewhere, he lost touch with humanity that exists in all of us. That did not give the shooter the right to shoot and kill him. However, it does present an opportunity for those who follow the Lord to be gracious to the family of the victim while being honest about who he truly was as well as to the shooter. It gives us an opportunity to be gracious with one another and realize our humanity like Jesus did and does.

Yes, I know this is a sports blog. But sometimes, sports has to take a backseat to more important things like 9/11 which we honored yesterday. And yet, sports has been and hopefully will always be medicine to help heal our Nation and the World. Having said that, I thought I would share some of the beauty, love, kindness, and support the world of sports has shared over the years.
