Focus. Determination. Long days and short nights. Quick trips and long excursions to the other coast. . . . It has been 7 months since the season began, and approximately 21 teams are left to vie for the 16 playoff spots.
As of last night, 1 team has clinched a playoff spot–Tampa Bay Lightning with 102 points. The expansion team, Las Vegas Golden Knights, are still surprising everyone by being in the running for another year in its sophomore season. Everyone else has yet to lock in a spot even with 67+ points, but the New York Islanders and the Calgary Flames will probably be the next teams to do so.
It hasn’t been the record setting season of last year. But tonight, there are several games with potential playoff impact . . . a two points earned or another team’s loss and your the team is in. It’s beginning to look like the playoffs, and that’s evident by the sweat showing up on the ice.
